At the start of November, Walmer Angel Project hosted an event initiated by IRFF UK. The Union of Jewish Women in South Africa generously donated 6-8 weeks of sanitary pads for 120 girls in Grade 7. Some girls were excited, others shy, but all very thankful.
The girls then received education from a trained nurse on why girls have periods; information on menstrual hygiene; environmentally friendly disposal of used pads; how they can get different sexually transmitted diseases; and the girls were also encouraged to ask for advice at any time.
We will see if any young male students will be interested to listen to any of the talks for future events.
IRFF UK is proud to announce it will be funding this initiative from January 2023.
